The Shenandoah River is a celebrity of our region and our country. Its two forks and main stem wind though a bucolic landscape, roughly 300 miles between two states.
We love it, but many of us don't really know how it came to be, or about the life that flows through it, or the stories that have unfolded on its banks. Denizen is working on a photographic / educational-resource book to address that, so we might understand the river and its watershed on a deeper level, in hopes that increased knowledge and appreciation will inspire us to embrace it in a more profound way.
The more we know about the Shenandoah's nature, its history, and its challenges, the better able we will be to protect and preserve it for future generations.
More than a book, this project includes a museum exhibition, community involvement activities, and an online interactive tool.
