This film spotlights a unique development initiative addressing the conditions of rural Indian villages—the Village Life Improvement Program. Founder of the program is a son of one of those villages, Dr.Raghbir Singh Basi. An émigré to the United States who became a successful economist in academia, Dr. Basi returned to his home village in Punjab to help his former village overcome its challenges.

With matching funds from the Punjabi state government, and sponsored by Indians abroad, this project takes a holistic approach to rural development and is changing lives one village at a time.

Denizen Media is collaborating with director PF Bentley to produce a documentary piece on VLIP designed for public television.

Supporting a documentary on the Village Life Improvement Project will help it grow and inspire similar efforts elsewhere in the world.
